Using MTN Blackberry Plan on Your Android Phones

In the previous post, how you can go ahead to use Airtel's blackberry subscription on your android phones was discussed. In this post, achieving the same thing ie using MTN's blackberry subscription on your android phones will be discussed.
To go about it, here is what you should do.

  1. Subscribe for MTN blackberry plan. Their cheapest monthly plan goes for N1000. To activate this, send BBC to 21600. You should receive a message from MTN acknowledging receipt of the message and activating your plan.
  2. Go to your phone's settings and navigate to "access point names". How to locate it differs from phone to phone so i can't post a specific one.
  3. After locating it, you should see two options there (MTN NG and MTN MMS) by default unless you had modified it previously. Create a new access point with the following settings
  • Name: MTN Blackberry or anything you like.
  • APN: blackberry.net
  • Username: web
  • Password: web
  • Leave everything else as it is.
  • Then save.
At this point, you have successfully configured your android phone to access the internet using MTN blackberry bundle.
As usual, any problems encountered or questions should be dropped in the comment box below and you will get a solution or an answer as soon as possible.

    1. It was just blocked recently by MTN. There is however a little solution to that for now. First of all is your phone rooted?

    1. There is a procedure called rooting when talking about android phones. It lets you have more control over what you can do on your phone. Phones when released are not normally rooted because that additional control if not properly handled could lead to the phone developing serious faults.
